Recommended Hardware Specs for Kiosk & Lab 50 Computers:

  • Processor: Intel® Core 2 Duo™ (minimum) or higher processor (Core i3 or higher recommended)
  • Operating system: Windows 7 or Windows 8.1, Pro versions preferred but not required. (32-bit supported, 64-bit recommended) 
  • RAM: 4GB (minimum) / 6GB or higher (recommended) 
  • Hard drive: 500GB (minimum) / 1TB or higher (recommended) 
  • Monitor: touch screen for kiosks, 1024x768 or bigger
  • Card reader: recommended for kiosks
  • Printer installed as the default driver on the PC for printing receipts/invoices
  • Microsoft Silverlight installed
  • A user account with administrative privileges
  • High speed internet connection 

Recommended System Settings for Kiosk:

  • Ensure that the Operating System is fully patched and has all the latest operating system updates
  • Set the Control panel, in the settings called system->Advanced System Settings, make sure its set to adjust for best performance.
  • Also in the control panel make sure to disable auto play, the power options are set to high performance, and that the network settings to allow sharing.
  • In the display settings, make sure that the screen saver is disabled.
  • Download and install the free utility called CopyTrans Driver Installer here(http://download.cnet.com/CopyTrans-Drivers-Installer/3000-18546_4-75300288.html)  to download and install the drivers that are best suited for recognizing Apple devices.

Network Requirements:

  • The APM and Lab 50 software packages do not require internet access to function properly for simple processing of kiosk orders through to the printer, however, it is recommended the machines are online for activation and support purposes.
  • If the store will be processing orders from Photo Finale or from a kiosk placed in a remote location, internet access must be available at all times on the Lab 50 machine to ensure order receipt and processing in a timely fashion. 
  • The ports and IP addresses used by the various software components are listed below for reference. If the unit is on a domain or behind a firewall, exceptions may need to be made in the configuration in order for these applications to work properly.
