With the iOS & Android Connect License, the APM can be configured to allow a customers to conveniently access photos from their Apple and Android mobile devices.  This article reviews configuration and operation of this feature for Apple iOS devices.

Configuring the Kiosk

iOS 8 (released 9/17/14) requires new USB drivers. Installing the latest version of iTunes, as described below (steps #1-5), is required to get the proper drivers installed even on kiosk which have previously been configured for iOS Connect.

  1. Visit http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/ and download and install iTunes.
  2. Disable iTunes Helper.  
    1. On Windows 8:
      1. Hit CTRL-ALT-DEL and open the Task Manager.
      2. Click on the "Startup" tab (if no tabs are visible, click on the "More Options" button)
      3. Find "iTunes Helper", right-click and choose "Disable"
      4. Close the Task Manager   
    2. On Windows 7:
      1. Open the Start Menu and type in "msconfig".
      2. Click on the "Startup" tab.
      3. Find "iTunes" and/or "iTunes Helper" and turn off the respective checkboxes to disable them.
      4. Hit "Apply" then "OK". 
  3. Reboot the kiosk.  Once restarted, quit the APM software which will automatically launch.
  4. Using a certified cable, connect an iPhone running iOS 8 to the machine.
  5. Wait while Windows indicates that it is installing a new driver.  (This may take a minute or two.)
  6. Launch the Setup Wizard and go to Kiosk Settings > Devices.  Turn on the "Enable iOS & Android Detection" checkbox.  Save & quit.
  7. Launch the APM software if it does not start automatically.
