The Scanner Calibration tool included in versions 6.0 and higher of the APM software is intended to assist in producing high quality scans that are true to actual print color. For some scanner models, this may not work as intended or may adjust the colors more than you would prefer for your scanned images. You can remove/modify any applied scanner calibration settings by doing the following:
1. Quit out of the APM software, including the APM Hardware Attendant.
2. Open up c:\apm, and create a backup copy of the apmconfig_apm.xml file. This file contains the information you will need to remove, but it also contains your product and pricing setup, so a backup is recommended should you need to revert to it.
3. Open the original apmconfig_apm.xml using Notepad.
4. Locate a line in the file similar to the following:
<scanner_calibrate white_reference_r="10" white_reference_b="14" green_adjust="178" levels_hi="-165" red_adjust="250" levels_lo="430" white_reference_g="12" blue_adjust="301" levels_div="2"/>
5. Remove the entire line that contains the information as given in the above example. Please note that your individual values for each tag may vary, but the entire line from scanner_calibrate to levels_div should appear in your copy of the file. Save the changes, and close Notepad.
6. Once you have closed Notepad, open the apmconfig_apm.xml file using Internet Explorer or Firefox. Scroll to the bottom of the window, and make sure you see </apm> at the very end of the page. If you have an error displayed, then you will need to follow the steps again using your backup version of the file as some information may have accidentally been erased in addition to the line specified.
