Below is a list of some of the standard cd burning error codes and what they mean:

  • Error 0: This error normally indicates that there was a problem finding the drive. This can be due to the entry not being in the devices.def file (which is what we normally see quite a bit), or the drive or cd not being recognized in windows. The first thing I normally have someone check before recommending a replacement is whether or not the drive can read cds in Windows and if not, to confirm everything is properly connected for the drive.
  • Error 105: This error usually means the burner on the drive is going bad. The best way to verify this would be noting that it happens consistently after every CD Archive/Image CD order.
  • Error -105: This error appears when using DVD -R discs when burning a DVD Archive/Image DVD. The current fix for this problem is to use DVD+R discs.

If you are getting error 0 immediately after installing an update, it's likely the drive entry was not in the devices.def file of the update. We try to update our master list each time we create codes for a new drive for implementation in the subsequent releases, but once in awhile these do slip through the cracks.
