You will need the following tools to successfully complete the replacement of your Memory (RAM):

  • A flat, clean work surface on which to place the APM and components removed during installation.
  • The Replacement RAM Modules

Safety Note:

Before touching any internal components, especially circuit boards, make sure the APM is turned off and unplugged from the wall or surge protector. Also ensure you are completely grounded to prevent electrostatic discharge that can damage the internal circuit boards found in the kiosk.

Step 1 – Remove the kiosk back panel

 

  • Place the APM 3700 on a flat surface with the back of the unit facing you, and remove the back panel to access the memory chips.

Step 2 – Remove the Existing RAM Modules

 

  • To remove the RAM modules from the unit, you will first need to unlock the retention clips securing the module at either end. Push firmly on the tabs at either end of the module to release the lock mechanism.

Step 3 – Install the new RAM Modules

 

  • Once the old modules have been removed, the replacements will need to be installed in the same orientation as the previous modules. In the screenshot pictured at right, note the module divider within the slots themselves. This should be lined up with the notch in the new modules to ensure the part is installed snugly and securely on the board.

  • Install the RAM module by firmly (not forcefully) applying pressure on the top edge of the chip until it is fully inserted into the slot. The retention mechanism should move easily to secure the module into place.

*RAM Modules are very sensitive to electro-static discharge. It is highly recommended that while handling them you are properly grounded, handle them only by the edges, and only remove them from the anti-static packaging they ship in once ready to install.

 

Step 4 – Replace the back panel of the unit

 

  • Once the modules are secured in place, replace the back panel on the unit as originally installed.
