This answerbook page covers changing the minimum and maximum image sizes that the kiosk recognizes.

**Note: Before making these changes, please create a backup copy of your xml files using the Save/Restore tool found at the bottom, right corner of the Admin Screen of the kiosk. This should be done to allow a restore to your original settings should you encounter any problems.

Increasing Minimum Image Size

If you would like to increase the minimum allowable image size on the kiosk to prevent low resolution images from being imported into the order screen do the following:

  1. On the kiosk, quit the APM software and the APM Hardware Attendant.
  2. Locate the file called apmconfig_apm.xml which can be found in C:/APM. Right-click on the file and select 'edit'.
  3. Click on Edit and then select Find. In the Find box that pops up type in min_image_size and hit find. This should take you to a tag that looks like this: min_image_size="4096"
  4. This number represents the amount of bytes a file needs to be in order for the kiosk software to import it. 4096 is equal to 4K. To increase the size you will need to edit this value. Changing the value to "10096" would mean that any file less than approximately 1MB will be ignored by the kiosk.
  5. Enter the value as you see fit, and confirm that the quotations are still at either end of the value. ex: min_image_size="NewValue"
  6. Save the file and then exit. Restart the Hardware Attendant, and the new settings should be in place.

Increasing Maximum Image Size

If you would like to increase the maximum allowable image size on the kiosk to allow very high resolution images to be imported into the order screen do the following:

  1. On the kiosk, quit the APM software and the APM Hardware Attendant.
  2. Locate the file called apmconfig_apm.xml which can be found in C:/APM. Right-click on the file and select 'edit'.
  3. Click on Edit and then select Find. In the Find box that pops up type in max_image_size and hit find. This should take you to a tag that looks like this: max_image_size="104857600"
  4. This number represents the amount of bytes a file needs to be in order for the kiosk software to import it. 104857600 is equal to 100MB. To increase the size you will need to edit this value. Changing the value to "204857600 " would allow for files that are approximately 200MB to import into the software. Enter the value as you see fit, and confirm that the quotations are still at either end of the value. Ex: max_image_size="NewValue"
  5. Save the file and then exit. Restart the Hardware Attendant, and the new settings should be in place.
