CustomerName,
The APM has several settings that determine when a prompt appears for the customer to confirm that they are still using the kiosk after a period of inactivity. These settings are located in the c:\APM\apmconfig_apm.xml file, which can be edited while the software is closed by using Notepad.
*Note: Before making any changes, please make a backup copy of the file so that you can return to the original should you encounter any problems.
When you open the file, you will want to look for a line that looks similar to this:
<time_out time_out_2="120" time_out_3="820" time_out_4="120" time_out_xl="2400" time_out_1="600" />
The five timeout options along with their default settings correlate with screens in the kiosk software as follows:
- time_out_1: 300 (in seconds): default timeout - The kiosk is inactive during the order process, and the customer has not touched the screen to interact with the software.
- time_out_2: 60 (in seconds): start over timeout - Occurs after the default time out when there continues to be no activity.
- time_out_3: 420 (in seconds): order limits timeout
- time_out_4: 60 (in seconds): thank you timeout
- time_out_xl: 1200 (in seconds): order creation timeout
When changing the timeout, time_out_1 is the setting you will usually want to adjust in most cases.
Finally, please keep in mind that these settings are usually overwritten during a standard software update. If you have changed them, we suggest that after an update you come back in and set them to your desired settings.
Regards,
