Why all these tools?

  • Lab 50 is licensed software. You run it on one computer in your lab. When you install Lab 50, you also get Print 50. Only one can run at once, but they both pull from the same data, so you can turn off Lab 50 and crank up Print 50 and check it out.
  • myLab is a website portal you can get to from anywhere, https://mylab.photofinale.com/

There are some functions you can only do on Lab 50 or Print 50, and some only on myLab, and some on both! They all have the same credentials for logging in.

Background

Lab 50 is the original production software of the platform. It did everything from printing functions to customer account stuff to website catalog setup. It still does those things, but we have also added newer tools that do some of those functions faster, smoother, and with easier access (than having to go to the lab computer and log in). We have pulled some production functionality out into Print 50 and some account and catalog functionality out and into myLab. Eventually, we will phase Lab 50 and just have Print 50 (installed on a computer in your lab) and myLab (website portal).

So... which do I use?

Sometimes it's hard to know at first which tool to use. In a nutshell:

  • For a production/printing station, use Print 50–it's newer, faster and connects right into myLab for customer account functions. Then, then turn on Lab 50 as needed for setup (details below)
  • For catalog setup, customer help (like looking up order status) and reports, use myLab.
