Recommended Hardware Specs for Kiosk & Lab 50 Computers:

  • Processor: Intel® Core Duo™ or higher processor
  • Windows XP Professional w/SP3, Windows 7 or Windows 8 (more info on using Win 8 for Lab 50) (Note: to use the Media Manager, coming summer 2013, Lab 50 will require Windows 7 or higher)
  • Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1, 2.0, 3.0, 3.5 and 4.0 with all applicable service packs installed. (downloaded for free from http://update.microsoft.com)
  • Microsoft Silverlight installed
  • 2GB+ RAM
  • i3 or higher (i5 or better recommended)
  • Operating system: Windows 10 / 11x64-bit 
  • RAM: 6GB (minimum) / 8GB or higher (recommended) 
  • Hard drive: 500GB or more
  • Monitor: 1024x768 resolution or larger
  • Card reader: recommended for kiosks100GB+ hard drive
  • Printer installed as the default driver on the PC for printing receipts/invoices
  • A user account with Administrative administrative privileges
  • Active High speed internet connection 

Network Requirements:

The APM and Lab 50 software packages do not require internet access to function properly for simple processing of kiosk orders through to the printer, however, it is recommended the machines are online for activation and support purposes.

If the store will be processing orders from Photo Finale or from a kiosk placed in a remote location, internet access must be available at all times on the Lab 50 machine to ensure order receipt and processing in a timely fashion. 

The ports and IP addresses used by the various software components are listed below for reference. If the unit is on a domain or behind a firewall, exceptions may need to be made in the configuration in order for these applications to work properly.

Listing of Sites Utilized by Lab 50:

65.246.16.205 – www.photofinale.com (HTTP, HTTPS)
This is the consumer photo sharing website for customers to upload, share and order products from their photos.

65.246.16.206 – webservices.photofinale.com (HTTP, HTTPS)
This is the location of the web services that Lab 50 interacts with to communicate with the server.

65.246.16.205 – update.photofinale.com (HTTP, HTTPS)
This is the location that Lab 50 accesses to check for and download any updates to the application software.

Recommended System Settings for Kiosk:

  • Ensure that the Operating System is fully patched and has all the latest operating system updates
  • Set the Control panel, in the settings called system->Advanced System Settings, make sure its set to adjust for best performance.
  • Also in the control panel make sure to disable auto play, the power options are set to high performance, and that the network settings to allow sharing.
  • In the display settings, make sure that the screen saver is disabled.
