You will need the following tools to successfully complete the replacement of your Media Card Reader    Reader:

  • A flat, clean surface work surface on which to place both the APM and components removed during installinstallation.
  • The Keys keys that are shipped with the APM. (The larger of the two sets, with the number 301 inscribed on it.)The Replacement Hard Drive
  • Phillips Screw Driver (small to medium size)

before Before touching any internal components, especially circuit boards, make sure the APM is turned off and unplugged from the wall , or surge strip etcprotector. Also ensure you are completely grounded to prevent electro-static electrostatic discharge that can damage the internal circuit boards found in the Kioskkiosk.

Step 1 -- Unlocking – Unlocking Front Bezel

 

  •    Place the APM-3700 on a flat surface with the front of the kiosk facing you.

  • Insert the provided larger key (The larger of the 2 two sets provided ) into the lock located on the top, left panel of the Kiosk’s kiosk’s front bezel. Set the lock to the “on” position.

Step 2 Remove/Replace the Card Reader and/or CD Drive:

 

  • .Carefully pry the front bezel cover from the chassis, working from left to right. No tools are required for this step as the design allows for its removal with your bare hands. There are two markings ( arrows ) on the upper left and right corners of the bezel that show were where the clips are located. Little A little pressure should be applied to those locations to free the bezel off from the chassis as shown to the right. It may be easier for you to remove the panel if you lay the kiosk on its back, so the monitor is facing up towards you.

  • Completely remove the front bezel and place it somewhere safe. Now that Once the bezel is removed that will leave , the Optical Drive & and Receipt printer Printer tray will be exposed._ _

    If the clips that secure the bezel to the chassis will not come loose. Use , use a screwdriver at the location of clip 3(see image above), on the right panel) to carefully push the clip in until it is released from the chassis.

  • Pull the tray out of the bay using the two silver tabs located at near the bottom of the Kioskkiosk. A small amount of force needs to be applied to pull the tray our which out as it is connected to a daughter another board to the rear of the trayin the kiosk.

Step 3 --Remove/Replace the Receipt Printer:

 

  • With the Tray out, remove the two ribbon cables that go from the thermal receipt printer (Mechanical Print Head) to the thermal receipt printer’s controller board.
  • The two ribbon cables have to be removed from the controller board.

    Please use caution to not damage the ribbon cables on removal and reinstall. The ribbon cables are secured into place by plastic tabs that have to be released before the ribbon cables can be safely pulled out

  • Once the two ribbon connects are released from the controller board orientate the tray so that the Receipt printer (front) is facing you.
  • Open the receipt printer door. This will give you access to the two small screws that secure the receipt printer to the receipt printer chassis. See pictures to the right:

Step 4 – Remove Rollers from the back of front panel (Optional and only if necessary)

 

  • With the receipt printer door released use screw to remove the two screws that secure the roller assembly as shown to the right

Step 5-- Remove /Replace the Controller Board (Optional and only if necessary)

 

  • There are three screws that secure the controller board to the receipt printer chassis.
    Note

     the same requirement applies to the removal of the controller board as it does to the print head removal in step 3 which is; Both ribbon cables that run from the thermal receipt printer mechanical head to the controller board have to be removed before removing any of those components.

Step 6-- Remove /Replace the Power Converter Board (Optional and only if necessary)

 

  • Disconnect the Molex connector that runs from the converter board to the daughter board.
  • Remove the connector from the daughter board then remove the connector attached directly to the converter board for the sake of ease.
  • The location of the four screws that secure the converter board in placed are marked with circles to the right and are on the green circuit board.
